Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a pair of interacting galaxies located 380 million light years away in the constellation of Bootes at a declination of +14 degrees.  The pair span 1.3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a width of 140,000 light years.  

The galaxies appear to be in the midst of a merger, with a stellar bridge now connecting them.  Star streams extend wildly out from the object as if it is in need of a haircut.

This falls into the category that I call - Galaxy Merger Stage B (Short Bridge).  It looks much like Arp 106:
